Sanctuary Northern Rivers: Working for refugees worldwide.

A Little History

On December 10, 1948 the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Following this historic act the Assembly called upon all Member countries to publicize the text of the Declaration and "to cause it to be disseminated, displayed, read and expounded principally in schools and other educational institutions, without distinction based on the political status of countries or territories".

December 10, 2008 was the 60th anniversary of this proclamation.

We perceive there to be a lack of knowledge and understanding about the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in our community.

What is the Project?

Through this project we aim to provide each school in the Lismore District and surrounds with the opportunity to receive free a large wall hanging of the UN's Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We believe this project is one avenue through which the United Nation's Universal Declaration of Human Rights can be disseminated throughout our community.
